Background
The Waimate Community Vehicle Trust has been servicing the Waimate Community since 1999, however, the Community Vehicle has been part of Waimate since 1980 when it was run by the Waimate Lions Club for transporting the elderly to day care at the old hospital.
All of our drivers are dedicated volunteers - giving their time to help support our community. They work on a rotating roster with at least one working day per month, and some also do relief driving when we are busy as well. We are always looking for more volunteers.
In recent years it has extended its fleet of vehicles to 23cars and a wheelchair van - and has a purpose built garaging to house all the vehicles.
“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.” – Jean Vanier
